This is a picture of a man I absolutely despise. Adolf Hitler and his plans made it impossible to perform in my own country. I had to travel to America to get proper audiences. Luckily, I was able to go back to my home to perform after the dreaded war was over.

Well madam we have something in common here. That sounds interesting and dangerous. How did you handle such a situation mentally?
ReplyDeleteIt was very interesting, but not very dangerous. I really just said to myself that my audience was suffering in my country, and that the only way I could perform was if I moved somewhere else. It was a hard thing to do, and a big adjustment, but I'm glad I did it.
